Tropic Thunder

I have never been so impressed with the opening moments of a comedy film in all my days of viewing comedy as I was with this movie. I was laughing from the first second (as soon as I realized it was the start of the movie...). This movie had so many great qualities...the perfect mixture of satire and "dumb" comedy, an assortment of stars, action, drama...the list goes on and on. I love that this film makes a mockery of Hollywood and of the actors themselves. Ben Stiller does an excellent job of owning his role (as always...he puts everything he has into the characters that he portrays), and Robert Downing Jr. shocked me with the level of comedy that he brought to the show. And speaking of shocking...I knew from the beginning that Tom Cruise was in this film, but I was not prepared for the role that he played. He is so well known for his dramatic roles in major blockbusters, but he did not appear to have any problem switching gears to play in a comedic role...who knew? I can not recommend this movie to everyone due to the crude content, so I have to give it 4 pigs, but if you like that sort of thing, you will LOVE this one!
