Gandhi

I am getting so behind on my reviews, so I am going to try to keep these shorter. However, it is hard to say that when writing about Gandhi. I have to admit, I did not know much about Gandhi prior to viewing this film, and I still loved this movie. Ben Kingsley was outstanding...he was really able to capture Gandhi's character and make you believe that he is the real Gandhi. I feel like I learned so much from this film, not just about history, but about civil disobedience. What an interesting topic to discuss...I could go on for days debating the pros and cons of civil disobedience. I was impressed with Kingsley's ability to alter his persona to mirror someone so unique and physically remarkable as Gandhi. Although this movie is very long (188 minutes with an intermission), and often slow moving, it was able to capture a time period and region of the world that has not frequently been portrayed on film and make it interesting to the average viewer. I personally was not overly attached to Gandhi as a person, but what he stood for and how he reacted to situations helped this film become a timeless epic. This is a must see for all people...5 pigs without question.
