Ed Wood is one of the oddest movies about one of the oddest people I have ever heard of. It is based on a true story about Edward Wood, a screenwriter/director/producer who was known for his low budget horror/science fiction films in the 1950's-1970's. In his personal life, he was known for wearing women's clothes. This film is riddled with big names, including Sarah Jessica Parker, Patricia Arquette, Bill Murray and Vincent D'Onofrio. But the star of the show was Johnny Depp. He is one of the most eccentrically strange people in the world! Or so he appears in his films. He and Tim Burton have an incredible collaboration that has developed some of the greatest films with some of the loopiest characters (mostly played by Depp, ie Sweeney Todd, Edward Scissorhands, Willy Wonka, etc). I really can't wait to see what they come up with next (I think their next project is Alice in Wonderland, with Depp as the Mad Hatter). These two are always entertaining, even if their films make you feel a little awkward. I think this film had the perfect effect on me...it made me want to see Plan 9 from Outer Space, as well as other films by Ed Wood, just so that I can understand more about what went on in this man's head. The film was well written and directed, with incredible acting and a remarkable story. It was not the best movie I've seen this year, but it was pretty good. I'm giving it 3 pigs.
