Rocket Science

I had heard very little about this film prior to viewing it, except that it was rumored to be similar to Napoleon Dynamite. In my humble opinion, the differences far outweigh the similarities. I will admit, it will probably be a cult classic, and it is another movie that leaves you feeling a little anxious and awkward, but I personally think that is where the similarities end. Rocket Science is a very smart, witty comedy about a social misfit who has difficulty speaking in public settings and how he is conned in to joining the debate club. You just can't help but feel sorry for Hal Hefner and the events that keep happening to him. I was expecting a very different ending to the film, but do not think the ending I wanted would have given justice to the effect of the movie. The fast talking of the debaters is incredible, and I found that in my old age, my mind is not able to work as fast as they were speaking. Overall, this was a good movie...good enough for 4 pigs.
