This movie was released in 2007, and stars Samuel L. Jackson, Ed Harris, and Eva Mendes. I have strong feelings about each of these actors, which I will share with you prior to giving my critique. For some reason, Samuel L. Jackson makes me think of a creepy old man...this opinion stems from the previews for Black Snake Moan, which led me to believe that he was a creepy old man keeping cute little Christina Ricci to use her for his sexual purposes. If any of you have seen Black Snake Moan, you know this is not the case, but I still see him as a creepy old man. Anyway, I love Ed Harris (ever since Apollo 13), and I loathe Eva Mendes (ever since Hitch...although she was pretty good in We Own the Night, but Ghost Rider...come on), which gave me an interesting perspective going in to this movie. I had absolutely no idea what it was about (or even if it was a comedy, drama, thriller, or horror) which I think helped me enjoy it more. It was shockingly short (only 88 minutes...I haven't seen a movie that short for years), and I feel like some of the characters could have (and should have) been developed more, meaning they should have used maybe 15 more minutes to develop the characters instead of cutting it so short. The plot was interesting, but I can't say it was original...and it was highly predictable. Overall, I will give it three pigs...not terrible, but not the best film of the year.
